A LETTER FROM KAREN NEWMAN:

On August 17,2007 I was diagnosed with B cell Lymphoma after checking in to the hospital on August 13, 2007 diagnosed with Pneumonia. I was released from the hospital on August 21, 2007 to follow up with an Oncologist on my own. A close friend of my family works in a hospital and recommended me to a doctor only to find out that the clinic policy was not to take patients without Insurance. We then went looking for another avenue for answers. A couple of days past and my friend was working in the ER when in walks the Dr. I had tried to get am appointment with. She didn't want to bother him while he was working  and told a nurse working with her that she would call him later. Low and behold he walks into the room she was working in and after he was through with his work she confronted him with the incident and wanted to know if he could recommend anyone else since I couldn't see him. He asked her to explain the situation and after hearing the story told her to have me come in to his office the next day to see what could be done. She called me so excited about the news and I had to get on the ball early the next morning to get all my record together as they were not final when I left the hospital. After calling the hospital and finding they were finished, I then called the Dr's office to get directions and found out that they could have all the records faxed to the office when I got there. At this point all I knew was I had Lymphoma in the lungs and the colon and the tumor in the colon could be surgically removed.

When I finally saw the Dr. for the, consult(I thought), he reviewed the results and informed me that if I had to have Lymphoma I had the easiest kind to get rid of. It was a very slow growing type and was completely treatable only with chemo therapy. It would take 6 to 8 treatments and should shrink away. He then told me that he was going to start me on treatments following a few tests on August 27, 2007, the following Monday. I was so excited that he gave me such non devastating news and was taking the case himself , that I thought a boulder had been lifted off my shoulders. He gave me a big hug as I was so overwhelmed by the news and then told me since I did not have insurance that he was going to treat me for cost plus 10% as he would treat his family members. I could not believe my good fortune.

Since I was admitted to the hospital I have had a dog show world of friends doing a lot of research on what I needed to do and how I needed to do it  and putting me on dozens of prayer lists as well as putting me in their prayers. This has proved even more to me what the power of prayer can do and how large the dog show family really is. I THANK all of you that have thought of me the last 2 weeks and wish I could repay you in a greater way. I am so grateful for all your concerns and am very confident that this will be a thing of the past in the very near future. I hope you can keep me in your prayers as they are very powerful and very appreciated.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I will see you all SOON at the dog shows!!!!!
